Online Poker Terminology - Poker Magazine Attacks Legislation Against Online Casino Sites
Bluff magazine, a widely known US and International poker magazine, isn’t so happy with the latest US legislation concerning online gambling and online casino web sites. The magazine issued lately a public release in which it strongly objects that proposal, which would make financial transactions with online gambling companies, such as online casino sites and poker rooms, illegal.
There’s no doubt that the adoption of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Prohibition came as a blow to the whole online casino community, as Eddy Kleid, the magazine’s president, says: “It doesn’t matter to the Congress that a majority of Americans oppose the legislation, that 23 million Americans play poker regularly or that poker is a game of skill”. As Kleid, the whole poker community and online casino industry, couldn’t be angrier about the decision. Michael Bolcerek, president of the Poker Players Alliance, explains why: “Poker players in America will be hurt by this act of political trickery, and for what purpose? to act as an angry “nanny state” and tell Americans how, and where, to spend their money”.
To further illustrate his frustration and anger, Bolcerek compares the Congress’ legislation against online casino sites to the Chinese government, who censors the internet and tries to control and constrain the financial lives of the Chinese citizens. “Poker, along with the millions of Americans playing it, deserve the same attitude that horseracing, state lotteries and fantasy sports received” says Bolcerek. In effect, he is also expressing the will of the entire online casino community.
