The online casino giant Party Poker has teamed up with technology provider GPS Industries’ to engage in a joint online poker marketing program that hopes to reach 80,000 golfers while promoting an online poker tournament. The plan hopes to utilize GPS units used by golfers and on golf-carts to display online gambling ads for the upcoming online poker tournament, and will start relatively small with services being directed at 15 courses and, judging from the test market’s success, will expand from there. For every golf player that signs up for the online poker tournament from the GPS campaign, Party Poker will compensate a certain amount of money to GPS Industries.

“We’re really excited to initiate this program with an online casino company that embraces the technology, sees the advertising potential combined with a love of the game of golf to deliver an unmatched experience for consumers of both golf and online gambling services,” said Robert C. Silzer, Sr., Chairman, CEO and Director of GPS Industries. If the test market/pilot program for the online poker tournament is successful, and the following expansion is itself successful, then it is expected that the marketing partnership will go from being a focused campaign to a worldwide campaign.

Party Poker’s move to work with GPS is seen by many of evidence of the online poker company’s increased confidence and clout following a successful IPO offering on the London Stock Exchange for Party Gaming, Party Poker’s online gambling parent company, a couple of months ago that turned the company from what was simply a very successful online business to an economic powerhouse with a market value higher than more established and respected businesses and corporations. GPS Industries, meanwhile, is a Wi-Fi wireless GPS-specializing multimedia communications and management corporation with a focus on golfing, golf courses and golf player’s needs.
