Online Poker Terminology - Give Online Poker Credit it Deserves
If online poker goes, what could happen to the rest of the online gambling world? Right now, online poker makes up a significant percentage of revenues for online casinos. One analysis by the Morgan Stanley financial group says that online casino sites such as Sporting Bet take in $530,000 a day just from online poker games and wagers, a not insignificant portion of the company’s daily intake. If it wasn’t for online poker, one could argue that online casinos would not be nearly as popular and profitable as they are now. So perhaps the question is not necessarily what happens to the online gambling industry should online poker somehow fall out of favor with consumers, but should online casinos be shifting their focus more toward online poker if they haven’t already?
Online poker is the mainstay of so many online casinos, and yet still a good number of others try and present all of their games as having an equal draw on customers as well as providing an equal level of engagement at the casino. But customers aren’t stupid, and they are focusing on online poker whenever and wherever they sign on to play internet gambling games. There are already several online gambling sites with an almost exclusive focus on poker, calling themselves rather than online casinos as “online poker rooms”, and it is these companies – such as Party Poker – which are able to advertise internationally without the need for brash theatrics that seem a desperate appeal to customers because they can’t get them any other way (of course I’m referring to Golden Palace).
Maybe it is simply the case that rather than trying to focus on online poker, those online gambling sites that also provide other games should give credit where credit is due. If online poker is a big draw for customers, advertise about it. If more people win at online poker by virtue of the fact that more people play it, don’t simply show that the winning percentages for online poker are high – point out that so many people play online poker at your online gambling site that it is nearly impossible, if you play enough (and of course responsibly) to avoid being an online poker winner yourself! If it is online poker that is the backbone for online casinos these days, and it seems like this is most definitely the case, then why hide it?
