Online Poker Terminology - A Convention on the Feminine Side of Poker
There was a time when poker was considered primarily a man’s game, with women relegated to the sidelines or those who managed to make their name known in the poker world seen as novelties. That time is still today, according to some (and wished for by some), but for others who have their fingers on the pulse of the poker and online poker world, women like Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman are proving to both old-time poker players and those who have yet to catch onto the game of poker that women poker players, both of online poker and regular poker are coming into their own and proving to be just as skillful and able poker players as men are.
This surging popularity regarding female players of poker has inspired a landmark event that is sure to change the landscape of modern online poker and poker…the Women’s Poker Convention, which will be held this upcoming August from the 12th to the 14th at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This poker convention is set to be hosted by Lou Krieger, a well-known poker author among a number of other lecturers such as World Series Of Poker champion Barbara Enright, two-time World Series Of Poker champion Susie Issacs, poker writer Amy Calistri as well as the professional poker players Roxci Rhodes, Cat Hulbert, and Lacey Jones and last but certainly not least the keynote speaker, the aforementioned poker ace Jennifer Harman who is a World Poker Tour Champion and who has won two World Series of Poker bracelets.
Attendance for the Women’s Poker Convention should be packed tight, and if anyone has any doubts as to this they need only note that this year’s World Series of Poker had a 300% increase – that’s right, a 300% increase – in female attendance at this year’s tourney over last year. Watch out, poker world…the women have arrived.
